The calendar days are flying by as we race towards Christmas morning, so I though it would be fun to do a quick post with a few images from Franklin’s Dickens of a Christmas that was just over a week ago. We have been so busy since we moved into our studio space on the Franklin Square that we have missed every weekend event.....until this one! Wow was it ever a fun weekend! I have not heard the official numbers yet, but the rumor was that more than 60,000 came out for Saturday, and Sunday could not have been much less. Truly amazing! The cold crisp blue skies seemed fitting as everyone celebrated with the costumed characters, great stage performances, booths fill with vendors, and the great food....I am salivating just thinking about the old fashion doughnuts and the apple fritters! I had a ball roaming around meeting people, watching the performances, and taking pictures with a wide range of different cameras. It only seemed fitting that I should pull out some of my antique cameras and run a few roles of film through them. I played with everything from my early 1900’s 4x5 view camera, an old Kodak Duaflex TLR, a Mamiya C330 TLR, a Mamiya RB67, a Canon EOS 3 film body, and even a few with my modern Canon 5D mkII. As my film started coming back from the lab it quickly became apparent to me that I LOVE the look and feel of film. Film has a warmth, a texture, and for lack of better words a humanness that digital cannot replicate.
It was great to meet all of you that took the time to stop by and chat, and thank you for being such great sports as we created some “old school” film images together! Feel free to contact me anytime, I would love to send out a email with your fun images from the day.
Merry Christmas Allan and Susan
